Routes
The ride will be mostly North and West of the starting point. This Google Map shows both routes.
The Ride includes 2 routes, a short route of about 36 miles and a long route of about 58. There is one “Barn” that is only on the long route.
Communications and Plans
The fix in in. We will be using a subset of the FM38 Network this year. If you have been comfortable using your 2 meter band you get to expand your horizons this year and use some of your 70 cm band. Two nodes of the FM38 network will be disconnected from the rest of the network for the day and connected together for our use. Please let us know if you think you might have trouble using one of these repeaters so we can come up with a plan to help you. Put these repeaters in your radio’s memory (particularly SAGs) to make it easy to select the one that works best for you. SInce, at least, the Madison node should be accessible to most of us living in greater Madison go ahead and test your access before Sunday. If there is an equipment failure with FM38 on Sunday we have the potential to use the simplex channels and relay messages for one another because one simplex channel won’t be enough to cover the entire course.
