- The ARRL offers many continuing education courses. The following courses are recommended:
- EC-001: Level 1 – Introduction to Amateur Radio Emergency Communications
- EC-002: Level 2 – Intermediate Amateur Radio Emergency Communications
- EC-003: Level 3 – Advanced Amateur Radio Emergency Communications

FEMA Training
FEMA offers a large number of Independent Study courses. Here are some suggested courses:
- IS-100: Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS-100) (Required)
- IS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (ICS-200)
- IS-700: NIMS – An Introduction (Required)

Spotter training in the area is handled by the National Weather Service, MKX.
